2011 Acura MDX - review, trunk, engine, exterior and interior

The 2011 Acura MDX is a seven-passenger, three-row luxury crossover vehicle. 2011 Acura MDX puts its best foot forward with strong acceleration, a comfortable cabin and in great safety performance–while downplaying any extreme off-road ability. However, 2011 Acura MDX is also an entertaining vehicle to drive and, despite some odd exclusions on the features list, a supremely confident family vehicle with a stellar safety record. Should the MDX offer a diesel option for 2011 Acura MDX model year, buyers can expect radically improved fuel economy: changes to the existing 3.7-liter, 300-hp V6 are unlikely for the future Acura MDX.

The 2011 Acura MDX handsomely styled exterior is complemented by an attractive and comfortable interior with nice illumination features. Inside, the 2011 Acura MDX features heated and (optionally) ventilated “Milano” leather seats, a thicker sport steering wheel, paddle shifters, new gauges, revised button placement in the center stack and overall upgraded materials.

Acura’s Real Time Weather and Traffic Rerouting features are newly available in the 2011 Acura MDX with the optional navigation system, which we wouldn’t found in the Acura MDX 2010.The 2011 Acura MDX steering wheel is tilt adjustable with power steering and cruise control while the audio and cruise controls are located on the steering wheel.

The 2011 Acura MDX is offered in five trim levels starting with the base model and moving up through the Technology, Technology and Entertainment, Advance and Advance and Entertainment groupings. The 2011 Acura MDX features a new V6 engine and the versatility and performance that one expects from Honda’s luxury brand.

The standard 2011 Acura MDX sports a 3.7 liter, 300 horsepower V6 engine with 270 lbs of torque and a Drive-by-Wire throttle control. The EPA estimates the 2011 Acura MDX fuel mileage is 16 mpg in the city, 21 mpg on the highway, and 18 mpg combined. The new throttle system and the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) provide excellent acceleration and vehicle control.

The six speed automatic transmission in the 2011 Acura MDX is equipped with Shift Hold Control, Grade Logic and Sequential SportShift paddle shifters. In addition to drivetrain changes for the 2011 Acura MDX, Acura seems to be building on the corporate look previewed by the 2011 Acura TL and 2011 Acura TSX — as the MDX gains revisions to its front and rear fascia similar to Acura’s latest offerings.

Test Drive and Review 2011 Acura MDXCompetitors 2011 Acura MDX
Early road testing of the new 2011 Acura MDX indicates that this luxury SUV has good acceleration on the highway, and that the powerful engine responds well to driver control. The 2011 Acura MDX comes with a four-year 50,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty with six years of coverage on the powertrain and full vehicle life roadside assistance.

On the pro side, there is so much to be said about the 2011 Acura MDX from its superb performance to its exceptional entertainment features. Few vehicles stand out so clearly from their competitors and the 2011 Acura MDX competes against luxury crossovers like the Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT; the Volvo XC90; and the Buick Enclave.

The technology level on the 2011 Acura MDX is truly state of the art, but that hardly seems reflected in the price tag. The 2011 Acura MDX price begins around $43,000 and reaches beyond $50,000 for fully outfitted versions. If there is a drawback, it may be that the 2011 Acura MDX does not look quite as impressive as it should for such an outstanding vehicle.
